Food hygiene rating and inspection-result data published by the Food Standards Agency for participating UK local authorities.

Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

How a signal is created

The service stores a baseline snapshot for each local authority and compares later daily extracts against it. When an authority is first added, its existing records form that baseline and produce no signals.

• Newly listed: an FHRSID appears that was not in the previous snapshot.
• Newly inspected: the rating date changes while the published rating stays the same.
• Rating changed: the published rating value changes.
• Rating pending: the record is newly flagged as awaiting publication of a new rating.

Each signal records the date it was observed and links to the official record on ratings.food.gov.uk.

What a signal does not mean

A newly listed record does not prove a business has newly opened. A rating change does not establish wrongdoing or future purchasing intent. The official record, rating date and update date should always be checked.

Brand assets

PremisesPulse does not use Food Standards Agency logos or rating artwork. Any later use must follow the applicable brand standard and terms.
